WILL OF EDWARD PRICE

Whereas I Edward Price of the County of Kanawha and State of Virginia being in a low state of health, but in sane mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life when the body must return to its mother dust I commend the soul to God who gave it and being desirous to dispose of the things of this world that I may leave it quiet and tranquil

1st I desire that my body may be intered with deacent, Christian buryal and the expenses be defray out of my estate

2nd It is my wish and desire that my land may be exclusively appropriated to the use and benefit of Elizabeth my affectionate wife who is also very frail and affected and of the profits of so land is not sufficient for her decent support with her to be supplied with all the necessaries of life out of my personal estate that is not otherwise appropriated as far as it will go

3rldy I also give and bequeath to my daughter Jane for her affection and tenderness to me in my present illness one cow, a bed furniture, sixty dollars, to be made out of my personal estate and to be kept in the hands of Benjamin Slack my Exo till she is married or Eighteen year of age and after the death of my wife Elizabeth, wish my land to be sold and the money to be equally divided amongst my children, Archibald Price, Nancy Slack wife of Benjamin Slack, Edmond Price, Elizabeth Rucker wife of John Rucker, Margaret Rucker wife of Fielding Rucker and Jane Price and if any of my personal estate is not expended, to be divided in like manner, I also leave my wife Elizabeth her bed, furniture, and bureaus and one cow, to her entire use to be disposed of by her when and how she pleases, also one pot and oven and two skillets. The foregoing disposition of my estate I acknowledge to be my last will and testament and do not wish to retract any part thereof, but do request my so executor (Ben Slack) to take it into his hands and dispose of the same as may see best for the preservation and disposition of the same, signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of and in the presence of each other this fifth day of February One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Eight.
