Had a family record that mentioned two brothers, William and Robert Hunter, who crossed the Atlantic in vessels to settle in or around Giles County, then Montgomery. This was in the 17th century or in the 1600's. They emigrated from England, bearing a medal with the Coat of Arms. Folk Lore has it that the English family were good marksmen, and he called them "Hunters". The King recorded this event and Coat of Arms. Certainly the names William and Robert are recorded in this family throughout the decades, and may indeed be the namesakes of the 1st Hunter of this family to cross the Atlantic.
