Vital Research Records Search Selection — The Vital Research Records Project of the West Virginia State Archives is placing Birth, Death, and Marriage certificates on-line. Users can search the records and view scanned images of the original records. Not all of Jefferson County records are scanned, but do check back with t heis site frequently since this is an ongoing project.
Jefferson County Museum — Housed in the lower level of the Charles Town Library at 200 East Washington Street, the museum displays material relating to the Washington family and John Brown, history of Jefferson County and Civil War artifacts, a large document collection, papers of Col. R.P. Chew, CSA, and pottery and porcelain of the period.

Peter Burr Living History Farm, Jefferson County. The home of Peter Burr, (born 1727, Connecticut and died 1795, Berkeley County, Virginia — now Jefferson County, West Virginia), was built there about 1751 and is now known as the oldest wood frame structure in West Virginia. It is owned by the Jefferson County Historical Landmarks Commission and is known as the Peter Burr Living History Farm. The Peter Burr Society Yahoo group page was established to help locate the descendants of his 13 children. Membership is available to all interested parties.
