The Grant County Historical/Genealogy Society, Inc. reorganized in August 2001. We have monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month. We meet in lower level of the Grant County Senior Center at 7:00 PM, unless otherwise advertised. A guest speaker will be at each meeting.

Dues are $1.00 per year or $.50 per meeting presently but at next election (July 2002) the dues will be: $6.00 per year-individual, $50.00 for life member per individual or $75.00 per year for couple, Institution--$24.00 per year. For a printable membership form, click here.

Grant County, West Virginia is located along the western edge of the state's Eastern Panhandle. Created out of the conflict known as the Civil War, the county bears the name of one of the wars's most illustrious warriors, Ulysses Simpson Grant who later became the 18th president of the United States. Grant County came into being on February 14, 1866 from Hardy County.
