On November 13, 1860, James W. Strong married Kate E. Stewart at Martinsburg. Her parents were John W. and Mary (Maslin) Stewart; her father was deceased as of
1884 and her mother was a resident of Berkeley County.
James W. and Catherine E. Strong had two children, Mary A. Strong, August 17, 1861-?, born in Kent County, Maryland, and John W.S. Strong, May 9, 1873, born in
Jefferson County, West Virginia. They lived at Bunker Hill, Mill Creek District, where James W. was a farmer.
