Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of James W. STRONG


         James W. STRONG was born in Kent County, Maryland, on March 23, 1836, moving to Berkeley County in February 1864. He was the son of Thomas A. and Catherine E. (Eagle) Strong, his father having lived in Kent County, and his mother deceased (as of 1884).

         On November 13, 1860, James W. Strong married Kate E. Stewart at Martinsburg. Her parents were John W. and Mary (Maslin) Stewart; her father was deceased as of 1884 and her mother was a resident of Berkeley County.

         James W. and Catherine E. Strong had two children, Mary A. Strong, August 17, 1861-?, born in Kent County, Maryland, and John W.S. Strong, May 9, 1873, born in Jefferson County, West Virginia. They lived at Bunker Hill, Mill Creek District, where James W. was a farmer.
