On June 21, 1827, in the Hedgesville district, David Smith and Elizabeth Seibert, a native of Berkeley County, were married. She was born August 16, 1807, the
daughter of Jacob and Magdaline (Stonebraker) Seibert. David and Elizabeth Smith had the following children: Samuel S. Smith, October 11, 1828-?; John Smith, December 27, 1829-July 21, 1851;
Mary Jane (Smith) Bender, September 20, 1831; Urilla Smith, September 15, 1833; Caroline Smith, April 12, 1835, lived at Little Georgetown; Van Buren Smith, October 29, 1837-September 1838;
Henrietta Smith, May 6, 1840-?; Ann E. Smith, January 16, 1842-October 15, 1876; George D. Smith, October 29, 1844-?; and Catherine V. (Smith) Bender, November 4, 1846-?.
David Smith was in the business of farming and milling at Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia.

David SMITH, one of the earliest settlers of the Hedgesville district, arriving in Berkeley County June 1, 1828, was born near Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland,
on January 8, 1801 to John Henry and Sophia (Fultz) Smith, residents of Boonsboro, Maryland. His father died in 1822 at the age of 46, and his mother died at the age of 80, in 1859.
