Berkeley County, West Virginia Biography of Christian Joaquin SINNIGER


         Christian Joaquin SINNIGER, son of Joseph and Sarah (Garman) Sinniger, residents of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, was born in Middletown in that state on November 8, 1852. He moved to Berkeley County, in the Opequon district, in May, 1882.

         On May 16, 1877, at the Shawmut Street Church, Boston, Massachusetts, C.J. Sinniger married Carrie Lang, daughter of Lewis Lang, who was deceased by 1884, and Ernestine (Ratzle) Lang, whose home was in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Carrie Lang was born in Boston of that state on February 22, 1859. C.J. and Carrie Sinniger had one child: Florence Gertrude, October 22, 1880-?.

         Mr. Sinniger was a printer, having served his apprenticeship at Auburn, Illinois. He and his family lived at Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia.

         Listed in Hardesty�s as just C.J. SINNIGER; an ancestor said his given names were Christian Joaquin.
