Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of William T. SILER


         William T. SILER, the son of Jacob and Beulah (Canby) Siler, was born in Berkeley County, West Virginia, on October 2, 1851. His father was also born in the county, in 1804 and lived near the village of Hedgesville. They had six children: T. Clay Siler, Margaret S. Siler, John T. Siler, William T. Siler, Virginia Siler, and Yardley Siler.

         On May 20, 1875, William T. Siler and Mary L. Wilson, a native of England born at Staley Bridge on April 6, 1851, were married. Miss Wilson emigrated to America with her parents in 1867, settling in Hedgesville, Berkeley County. Her parents were Lewis and Mary (Lowe) Wilson, natives of England. Her father was a merchant in Hyde of that country. Children born to William T. and Mary L. Siler were: John Calvin Siler, April 14, 1876-?, lived in Hedgesville district; Theodosia C. Siler, September 6, 1877-before 1884; Charles P. Siler, June 18, 1879-?, lived in Hedgesville district; Florence J. Siler, February 13, 1881-before 1884; and Oscar W. Siler, July 23, 1882-?.

         William T. Siler was a school teacher, a farmer and an orchardist in the Hedgesville district; his mailing address was Tomahawk Springs, Berkeley County, West Virginia.
