On March 23, 1841, Samuel Schappert married Sarah G. Beard, born July 8, 1815, near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James and Elizabeth
(Shuert) Beard. Samuel and Sarah Schappert had the following children: Mary E. Schappert, March 17, 1842-?, lived in Ohio; James William Schappert, August 22, 1843-?, lived in
Ohio; Sarah Jane Schappert, November 8, 1845-February 21, 1870; John Schappert, January 20, 1848-before 1884; Harriet A. Schappert, February 7, 1849-September 30, 1875;
Jacob N. Schappert, September 9, 1850-?; Charles H.A.W. Schappert, December 5, 1854-March 26, 1861; and Samuel M. Schappert, November 20, 1858-?.
Samuel Schappert lived in the Opequon district, with a post office address of Martinsburg, West Virginia, where he was a blacksmith.

Samuel SCHAPPERT, son of Jacob and Mary (Miller) Schappert, was born near Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia, on March 2, 1814.
He is a descendant of the pioneer Schappert family who settled in Jefferson County, West Virginia, at an early date.
