He married Miss Mary Ella Nadenbousch, daughter of Colonel J.Q.A. Nadenbousch of Civil War fame. He was a member of the City Council three times, at which time he held the office
of City Treasurer. When he first became treasurer, the finances of the city were in bad condition and he, through his business methods, placed them on a solid footing. The people of the county recognized his
ability to handle the affairs of a municipality and elected him a member of the County Court of Berkeley County in 1909, where he was president of that body for 6 years. While a member of the court, he inaugurated
the new road building system, eliminating the antiquated system of free road labor, and appointing road overseers in various sections of the county. He operated the Equality Flour and Feed Mill on Commerce Street
for a number of years, and had large farm holdings. (Note: Although the article didn�t say, it is presumed to be Martinsburg City Council.)

Alexander B. PARKS Sr. was a member of the West Virginia Senate, 1903 and was the first Chairman of the Committee on Labor for that body. He also introduced the bill creating the
State Board of Agriculture of which the Hon. C.R. Sperow of Hedgesville District was one of the first members.
