Anna McKown was born in Berkeley County in 1854, the daughter of Hiram and Isabella T. (Campbell) McKown.
G.W. McKown was a farmer and stock-dealer in Gerrardstown, Berkeley County, West Virginia.

Gilbert William McKOWN was born in Berkeley County, West Virginia, in 1840, son of John and Eloisa (Demoss) McKown, who were married in May 1829 at Prospect Hill and settled in Gerrardstown
where they raised a large family. They were both born in Berkeley County, his father in 1796 and his mother in 1813, and they died July 20, 1872, both in the same hour. They were buried in one grave in the Presbyterian church yard at Gerrardstown.
Gilbert McKown was an elder in the Presbyterian Church for 40 years, following in his father�s footsteps, who had been a ruling elder for many years.
