On February 17, 1853, Hamilton J. Light and Louisa Williams, born in Berkeley County on January 3, 1823, were married in that county. She was the daughter of Reason G. and
Rachel (Underdunk) Williams, early settlers in that county. The children of Hamilton and Louisa were John Light, December 8, 1853-February 23, 1870; George Smith Light, July 23, 1856-?; and Rachel Ann Light, April 29, 1859-?.
Mr. Light served the Opequon district as a superintendent of roads and had a farm in Bedington, Berkeley County, West Virginia.

Hamilton J. LIGHT was born in Berkeley County, West Virginia, October 11, 1812, the son of John and Ann (Strode) Light. His father was born in Pennsylvania
in 1756 and his mother June 5, 1768; they moved to Berkeley County in the early 1800�s. Mr. Light�s father was a blacksmith and shod horses for the soldiers of the Revolution army at Bedington, on the Lick;
Hamilton had two brothers, John Light and Peter Light, who served in the war of 1812. Mr. Light was of Anglo-Saxon descent and both his paternal and his maternal grandfathers were among the earliest and more enterprising settlers of Berkeley County.
