In July 1865, in Indianapolis, Indiana, W.F. Landers was married to Laura M. Shawen, daughter of Grafton and Christiana (Bentz) Shawen. She was born in Frederick City, Maryland, May 12, 1839. Miss Shawen�s mother was deceased by 1884,
as was Mr. Landers� father. Children born to W.F. and Laura Landers were: Charles L. Landers, March 6, 1868-?; Ella K. Landers, January 21, 1871-?; and twins, Nimrod Landers and Silby Landers, born January 21, 1875. Silby was deceased by 1884.
In 1879, W.F. Landers moved to Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia, where he was employed as an agent at that station for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.

W.F. LANDERS, the son of Nimrod and Elizabeth (Sawyer) Landers, was born in Boone County, Indiana, on March 31, 1844. He served in the Union army during the Civil war, enlisting first for three months� service in the 8th Indiana Volunteers,
and reenlisting in the 17th Indiana Battery, Light Artillery. He served the entire war, making second lieutenant May 25, 1865.
