Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of Alfred K. KYNER


         Alfred K. KYNER was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, February 9, 1840 and settled in Berkeley County in August 1865. He was the son of John and Julia A. (Mark) Kyner; his father was still in Franklin County and his mother was deceased by 1884.

         On December 10, 1861, Alfred K. Kyner married Martha J. Spencer, also a native of that county. The daughter of David and Martha (Bears) Spencer, Martha J. Bears was born October 18, 1839.

         Alfred and Martha J. Kyner had five children: Maggie Kyner, June 30, 1864-?; Mattie S. Kyner, February 9, 1867-?; David F. Kyner, June 27, 1873?; Lydia B. Kyner, January 8, 1876-?; and Charles L. Kyner, July 14, 1878-?. They lived in Martinsburg, Arden district, Berkeley County, West Virginia, where Mr. Kyner was a farmer.
