He left his estate equally divided between his two sons, John Boggs and William Boggs. John Boggs sold out and went first to Wheeling, West Virginia, and then to Ohio. William Boggs died at the age of 86,
leaving two daughters and one son, the Rev. John BOGGS, a Presbyterian minister ordained at the age of 19 and a graduate of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania and Princeton, New Jersey.
It was the daughter of John Boggs Sr. (William�s brother) who gained a national reputation at 16 for her bravery at the time the fort at Wheeling was attacked by Indians. When the ammunition ran out, she
declared it was better to risk the life of a girl than a man and she left the fort, filled her apron full of ammunition and returned unharmed. She spent the time loading the rifles and running bullets until the enemy was forced to retreat.
She was born on Back Creek and lived to be 102 (her name was never mentioned).

William Boggs, a son of Hugh Boggs, was born in Londonderry, Ireland. He married Elizabeth Hutchinson, by whom he had four daughters and two sons. He moved with his family to America and settled on
Back Creek in Berkeley County, West Virginia, receiving the grant for his land from Lord Fairfax in 1750.
