Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of Edward S. BARTON


         Edward S. BARTON was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, on November 23, 1845, the son of William and Nancy M. Barton. His father died in 1862 and his mother lived in Jefferson County, West Virginia, in 1884. Edward Barton moved to Berkeley County in 1867, after he served three years in Company C, 10th Virginia Infantry, during the Civil war. He was wounded twice.

         In Martinsburg, Berkeley County, on December 23, 1869, Edward S. Barton and Levina M. Yost, the daughter of George B. and Mary C. Yost, were married. She was born June 19, 1853 in Morgan County, West Virginia. Miss Yost�s parents were living in Butler County, Ohio, in 1884. Children born to Edward and Levina Barton were: Mary E. Barton, June 4, 1870-?; William E. Barton, September 26, 1873-?; Alice V. Barton, December 12, 1875-?; Effie F. Barton, July 21, 1879-April 27, 1880; and Henrietta Barton, August 20, 1881-?

         Edward Barton was a car inspector on the Baltimore & Ohio railroad with a post office address of Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia.
