Edward S. BARTON was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, on November 23, 1845, the son of William and Nancy M. Barton. His father died in 1862 and his mother lived in Jefferson County, West Virginia, in 1884.
Edward Barton moved to Berkeley County in 1867, after he served three years in Company C, 10th Virginia Infantry, during the Civil war. He was wounded twice.
