Berkeley County West Virginia Biography of George W. ANDERSON


         George W. ANDERSON was the son of Cornelius and Elizabeth (Troxell) Anderson, natives of Maryland who had moved to Berkeley County, West Virginia, by the time George was born February 6, 1839.

         George W. Anderson married Isabell Hawn, daughter of George and Mary (Martin) Hawn (who were both deceased before 1884), in Berkeley County on April 15, 1862. Isabell Hawn was born in Jefferson County, West Virginia, on August 22, 1842. Their children were: Mary E. Anderson, February 8, 1864-before 1884; Foster M. Anderson, April 11, 1865-before 1884; Catherine I. Anderson, Mary 18, 1866-?; Virginia S. Anderson, March 3, 1868-?; Eliza F. Anderson, December 30, 1870-?; George W. Anderson, November 15, 1873-?; and Henry R. Anderson, January 21, 1876-?.

         The Andersons lived in Martinsburg, Arden District, Berkeley County, West Virginia, where Mr. Anderson was a farmer.
