The first reference I've found to a newspaper, is from the early probate court minutes
where about 1847 I start seeing the judge ordering notices to be
placed in the Van Buren Intelligencer.

The current local newspaper for Franklin Co is the Spectator. They have a website.
The local librarian tells me their microfilmed copies start in 1911, but I asked for an
obit from 1922 a few weeks and was told they didn't have that copy. So it's evidently missing
some issues.
