Emma C. (Mathews) and Dr. Harmon A. McWain.
Emma was the daughter of John Mathews who came from Ohio. Emma was a nurse and seemingly prominent lady of the area, as I found quite a few newspaper abstracts that listed her starting from about 1892 to 1937. Dr. Harmon A. McWain was the son of Harmon Blackmer McWain and Amanda Malvina Coolidge. Amanda and the above mentioned Betsey E. Coolidge were sisters. Their brother, Warner L. Coolidge also came to Poy Sippi from Plymouth, Vermont.

Dr. Harmon A. McWain was the brother of my great great grandmother, Jennie Rose McWain Sawyer. Dr. McWain graduated from UVM in Burlington, VT and first married Annie L. Dudley who was a music teacher in Plymouth, VT. I believe she died sometime after giving birth to their daughter Maud who was born in 1882. He married Emma Mathews in about 1883 (according to census information) and Harmon died of TB in 1903. Emma did not remarry, but carried the name of Mrs. McWain proudly through the next 42 years of her life. Dr. McWain was involved in local politics as well as being President of the Badger telephone line that ran from Poy Sippi to Saxeville in the 1890s.
