there were nine rural schools in Newark
- Township. I do not know which school was Newark
Center and which was Newark
Elementary; one was in Section 18, the other in Section
22. Smythe school was either
the one in Section 1 or the one in Section 25.

is given below (using the modern road names).

numbers.
