- According to the 1873 atlas for Rock County, there were eight
rural schools in Avon Township.
- In 1917, there were also eight rural schools in the township.
It appears that the one school building (#7
- below) was moved (or perhaps a new building was erected),
placing it in Section 29, east of Hopkins Road, instead of it's
1873 location in Section 30, west of Hopkins Road.
- I have been informed one of the schools was called Avon Center.
- The location and current status of these school buildings
is given below (using the modern road names).
- The numbers given to each school are mine and not district
numbers. The 1917 map of Avon Township is not online, but you
can view an 1873
map and a current
map with the 1873 schools shown..
