Town of Ogema

The Town of Ogema was formed from part of the Town of Brannon on July 15, 1882. It was 192 square miles with both the north and south branches of the Jump River running through it.

The Wisconsin Central Railroad ran north/south through the eastern side of the Town and the Minneapolis, St. Paul, Sault St. Marie Railroad (Soo Line) ran east/west in the northern section. Early railroad stations in the Town of Ogema were Morrison and Catawba on the Soo Line and Corney (later named Ogema) on the Wisconsin Central line.

Although initially covered in dense timber, the clear-cutting of the logging industry opened the lands up for agricultural settlement.
