Rd. E. for .2 miles.   Cemetery is on right side of road.  Cemetery was inventoried October 2 and 6. 1983 by Mickey Franzmeier. The only cemetery records were found in the care of the River Falls Township Board   Mrs. Ed (Betty) Hanson said that the County of Pierce pays the Township $15.00/year for upkeep and the Township pays the 4H Club who has cared for the cemetery for 25 years, $25.00:  "in Township of River Falls, County of Pierce, State of Wisconsin, commencing at the corner fence post on the Road known as the Big River Road and on the N Sec line of Section 23 at the SE corner of lands owned by Mason Stone and the NE corner of land owned by John H. Webster on the line of the aforesaid Road running W on the said Sec line Sixteen rods to a Steak, thence S 10 rods to a steak thence E 16 rods, to the fence on the W side of the aforesaid Big River Road thence N 10 rods to the place of beginning, containing 1 A of land  .   Webster's and heirs get one lot for burial purposes  S. F. & R. nod des. on this deed.  3 Dec 1863 Greenwood Valley Cemetery Association was formed by Citizen's of the Town of River Falls and adjoining Towns.  Lots were 16x 20 feet with a stake at each corner.  Cemetery was to be fenced around entire acre of land.  Lots were to be sold at $5.00 each. Present at a 30 November, 1863 meeting regarding the above were:  Hosea B. Bates, Chairman  Hiram B. Bates  Simeon Farnsworth  Hollis S. (?) Proctor, Second Class Trustee  Charles Barnes, Second Class Trustee John McMillan, First Class Trustee    Cyrus Glass  John Hawley  Matthew D. Proctor, Secretary  Milton Webster, Third Class Trustee  John H. Webster  Truman T. Glass, First Class Trustee  George P. Jacobs, Third Class Trustee "Received for Record and recorded, December 2, 1863, at 3:00 pm in the Book "J" (?) of deed records on page 17." The records were confusing to read and made more difficult for our purposes by the fact that some people purchased lots, but never evidently buried their people in the cemetery, due to moving from the area. The following is a list of people purchasing lots, as found in the River Falls Township Records: 30 Nov 1863 Hosea B. Bates C. Barnes (Lot 19) T. T. Glass (Lot 8) J. McMillan (Lot 24) S. Hickok, Prescott, asking the Town to take over now after 2 years neglect rather in in three years, after five years neglect.  He was willing to put it in shape.  "The most of those who lie in the cemetery were old settlers who came here in the forties and fifties, and several veterans of the Civil War.  These people helped to make this country what it is and deserve to have a respectable resting place. (paragraph)  I am one of a very few of the generations following these old settlers and I should like to see the cemetery in the hands of some organization that will see that it has perpetual care." Township records show that on April 6, 1948, a motion was made to take over the cemetery. Another paper in the records states: Lots 48 and 25 were sold "years ago" to parties who have either moved away or are dead, have never been used for purposes of burial, these lots revert back to the Association. The following is a combination of the inventory taken in the cemetery and that taken from the River Falls Township records, which include burial permits and death certificates.  Some information from the Township records is included. *************************************************************************** Surname Name Dates Notes Atkins Dora 1868-1940 Bur.
