Washington Island Town Cemetery, Washington Island, Door County, Wisconsin, 54246.

LOCATION: Geographical coordinates are Lat: 452346N, Long: 0865543W. Property description is SE corner Gov’t Lot 3, Section 25, Washington Township, Door County, Wisconsin.

Take Lobdell Point Road from the Ferry Dock to the intersection with Main Road. Go north on Main Road almost the length of the island to Jackson Harbor Road, then east on Jackson Harbor Road for about a quarter of a mile to the cemetery which is on the north side of the road.

The cemetery is maintained in good condition.

There is a memorial stone to the Rev. Jesse Miner who died in 1829, but the oldest engraved headstone bears the date 1852. The caretaker pointed out an old grave in a wooded area and mentioned there are many old graves located in the cemetery which were never marked with any stones.

Originally transcribed September 17, 1977, by Eileen Slaby, Beverly Diefenbach and Sally Treichel, all of the Wisconsin State Old Cemetery Society.
