The Door County Newspapers were weekly except for the Door County Advocate which was bi- and even tri-weekly at one period of time.

The newspapers also are all microfilmed and available at the DOOR COUNTY LIBRARY-(MAIN) IN STURGEON BAY (CITY) 's Laurie History Room.  (THE DOOR COUNTY LIBRARY (DCL): 107 S. Fourth Avenue-(920)743-6578).  They are also available at the Brown County Public Library in Green Bay.

   "Expositor.-Founded October 1873, by George PINNEY; continued by him till May 1877; by Chas. I. MARTIN, to December 1884; by W. B. CARR, January 1885-March, 1886; purchased then by an association of citizens (A. W. LAWRENCE, L. M. WASHBURN and others), and styled Independent.  In February-March 1881, published articles on history of Door county.  Independent (except in 1876. Democratic).

  Independent.-Successor of Expositor; in March 1888, sold to Dudley CRANDALL, and conducted by him till July 1890; then purchased by Joseph HARRIS, Jr. and styled Republican.

  Sturgeon Bay Republican.-Successor of Independent; conducted by Joseph HARRIS till July 1891; then sold to J. Edward HARRIS; in January 1893, styled Democrat.  Republican till July 1891; thereafter Democratic.

  Democrat.-Successor of Republican; continued by J. W. HARRIS till August, 1894; by Chas. M. WHITESIDE, five months; by Hugh E. O'DONNELL, three months; in March 1895, merged in Door County Democrat."

Advocate: 19 Nov 1898 P.1-Door County Newspapers (from the annotated catalogue issued by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin):   "Door County Advocate.-First paper in Door county; founded March 1862, by Joseph HARRIS(originator and chief promoter of Sturgeon Bay ship canal); conducted by him till April 1875 (in partnership with Myron H. McCORD during first three months, and with H. HARRIS, 1866-April 1875); by Frank LONG since April 1875.  In May 1870, published a history of Door county, Republican."

  Pilot.-Organ of Hope Congregational church; edited by the pastor, A. A. ANDRIDGE; suspended September, 1894.
