WILBANKS-L MAILING LIST

Flowers

For simplicity all references to the family are made as WILBANKS,
assuming this to include those WILLBANKS with two "L's" as well.

WILBANKS-L is a mailing list for the discussion of WILBANKS and WILLBANKS family history and genealogy. Follow the directions below to subscribe to this free service.

As of 14 December 1998 only subscribers may post to the list. If you do not wish to subscribe but have info to share or seek some Wilbanks information, please go to the Wilbanks query board. Be sure to check the box requesting an email notification of any responses to your query so that you do not need to constantly check for answers.

After subscribing (see below) send email to [email protected]. It will automatically be sent to everyone currently subscribed to the mailing list.

To join the list yourself, there are two "modes" to consider:

  • Mail Mode -- Every posting made to WILBANKS-L is received as a separate e-mail as soon as it is posted
  • Digest Mode -- All postings made to WILBANKS-L in a 12 hour period will be consolidated together and sent to you as a single large message. Digest mode may send messages more frequently if many messages are received.

NOTE: You must turn off SIGNATURES before sending commands to the list server.

    3. How to change from one "mode" to another.
    There are two steps.
  • First, send the command "unsubscribe" (without the quotes) to [email protected] to discontinue Mail Mode, or to [email protected] to discontinue Digest Mode.

  • Second, send the command "subscribe" (without the quotes) to [email protected] to start receiving in Digest Mode, or to [email protected] to start receiving in Mail Mode.

    4. How to change to NOMAIL mode.
There is no formal NOMAIL mode. Please follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want messages to stop. When you are ready to start again, simply subscribe again.

  • After successfully subscribing to either mode you should receive a form-letter welcome message. This is your assurance that the subscription is complete. To post a message, send email to [email protected]. It will be sent to everyone subscribed regardless of whether they are in mail mode or digest mode.
