Website

There are a couple of fundraisers on our web site: https://sites.rootsweb.com/~wilacgs/. One is from Family Tree Magazine that our society receives $6 per subscription made through the LAGS website.

Roots Television also had a contest for societies and libraries to send as much internet traffic as possible through the LAGS website to their website to launch their new Societies Channel and Libraries and Archives Channel.

Unfinished Business

The dues structure will change. IF YOU RENEW FOR 2008 BEFORE NOV. 1, YOU CAN STILL RENEW AT THE 2007 RATE! 2007 rates: $ 15 for Quarterly membership

The new rates after Nov. 1 are: $ 20 for membership (comes with voting rights and Quarterly) or $ 25 for a family membership. We are dropping the plain membership level that came with voting rights and the newsletter only.

Irish Fest volunteers included Jane Radloff, Jonna Peterson, Delores DuCharme, Bessie Richardson, Roxanne Munns and Terry Micks.

Cindy Herlitzke volunteered to bring treats to the October meeting.

Roxanne Munns and Jane Radloff are still working on updating the beginner genealogist booklet.

New Business

We are eliminating the newsletter and it will no longer be published after 2007 and will only publish four Quarterlies per year.

We will eliminate the January meeting beginning in 2008 and instead have a June meeting. So in 2008 the meeting dates are:
Feb. 26, March 25, April 22, May 27, June 24, Sept. 23, Oct. 28, Nov. 25

We will continue to have the speaker first followed by the business portion of the meeting.

Roxanne Munns approached the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts about the possibility of helping with genealogy or family history badges. The Boy Scouts said we could become badge advisors. We talked about the possibility of having various tables to help groups with certain aspects of genealogy or going to their meetings to help. The Girl Scouts dont have a badge for this per se, but it could be used to help make progress on several different badges. Anita Doering mentioned that the Girl Scouts came to the Archives room in July for a genealogy session and the advisors loved it and planned to do it again. Could the Society some how get in on this too?

Program

Chuck Hosler presented a talk on digital photo storage and sharing photos via email. A copy of his presentation will appear on the LAGS website under the minutes section: https://sites.rootsweb.com/~wilacgs/Minutes/Sep07Pres.htm.

Adjournment

The business portion of the meeting adjourned at 8:53 pm and Delores DuCharme provided treats.

Respectfully submitted,

Anita Taylor Doering

Vice-President
