November 25, 2003

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, by President Anita Palmquist. Visitors were welcomed

Officer Reports

Secretary Greg Filbeck read the minutes of the September 23, 2003 meeting. The minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer Allen Nelson read the treasurer’s report. The beginning balance on hand as of September 23, 2003 was $872.99 with receipts of $818.70 and disbursements of $1,063.04, leaving a balance on hand as of November 25, 2003 of $628.65.

Allen Nelson mentioned to the membership that prompt payment of 2004 dues would be appreciated as forecasted expenditures will leave our society with very little funding.

Greg Filbeck read a letter of congratulations from the Blue Hills Genealogy Society of Barron County congratulating our society on our recent 30th anniversary.

Committee Reports

Website

Roxanne Munns reported that she continues to index the Quarterlys on our website.

30th Anniversary Party

Anita Palmquist reported on the 30th anniversary party and thanked the Banquet committee for their fine work. Over 50 members were present for the event. She thanked Greg Filbeck for serving as emcee for the evening.

Newsletter

Earl Newton once again asked for a replacement as Editor of the Newsletter, which is published three times annually (January, April, and September). Terry Micks agreed to help with typing. Any submissions should be emailed to her at [email protected].

Nominating

Anita Palmquist indicated that the Nominating Committee should begin work soon in selecting nominees for President and Secretary of our Society for the 2004-2006 terms.

Programs

Susan Douglas is investigating future programs for our society. Working with court house records and resources at the Mormon Library in Onalaska are on the docket.

Program

Following ethnic treat night, a roundtable discussion took place concerning finding solutions.

Announcements

Volunteers are needed to index obituaries between 1956-1983. Please see the Archives to volunteer.

Adjournment

Earl Newton moved to adjourn. The motion carried. The business portion of the meeting adjourned at 7:38pm.
