La Crosse Area Genealogical Society
February 26, 2002
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2002, by President Anita Palmquist.
Officer Reports
Secretary Greg Filbeck read the minutes. The minutes were approved as read. Greg announced that over 350 surnames had been submitted from the membership and that the surname index now appears on our website.
Treasurer Allen Nelson read the treasurer’s report. The beginning balance on hand as of January 22, 2002 was $1,656.54 with receipts of $592.44 and disbursements of $96.42, leaving a balance on hand as of February 26, 2002 of $2,152.56.
Committee Reports
Archives
Anita Doering announced that the 1930 census would most likely arrive sometime in April (the release date is April 1). She also announced that the Catholic cemetery project is progressing now through Section 8.
Newsletter
Earl Newton announced that the next newsletter will be distributed in April.
Quarterly
No report.
Programs
Susan Douglas announced the programs for February through April.
Unfinished Business
Anita Palmquist announced that our society was the recipient of a Founder’s Award from the Southside Library. The presentation by Jane Radloff took place on Friday, February 22, 2002.
New Business
The LDS genealogical center in Onalaska is requesting help for a genealogical fair with programs for beginners and advanced genealogists. The program will probably take place in the Fall.
Program
Bev McDowell, long time member of our Society, presented a program on the DAR with special emphasis on their goals and what is required to become a DAR member.
