La Crosse Area Genealogical Society

November 23, 2004

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm on November 23, 2004, by President Terry Micks.

Secretary Greg Filbeck read the minutes of the October 26, 2004 meeting. Anita Palmquist moved to approve the minutes as presented. The motion carried.

Treasurer Allen Nelson presented the Treasurer’s Report. The beginning balance on hand as of October 26, 2004 was $1,135.65 with receipts of $28.25, leaving a balance on hand as of November 23, 2004 of $1,163.90. The treasurer’s report was filed.

Greg Filbeck reported the following correspondence:

• Two photographs were received from the Chicago Genealogical Society for identification by our group. The photographs will be placed in the Archives.
• The South Central Chapter of WSGS will sponsor "Ancestors Road Show – Genealogy Fare IV" at Covenant Presbyterian Church on January 22. Email [email protected] for more information.
• The Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau mailed three packets of information for individuals wanted to visit Salt Lake with information on lodging and services.

Anita Doering reported the following:

• Learning and Retirement Classes are being sponsored by the Library on January 11, January 25, and February 1 from10:00am until noon each day. If you are interested in assisting with classes, let Anita know.

Submissions should be sent to Sue Page at [email protected]. The Quarterly was distributed this week.

Submissions should be sent to Terry Micks at [email protected]. Please identify LAGS in subject line. The next issue will be distributed in January.

The following are upcoming programs for our society:

• January 25 – Luxembourg
• February 22 –Susan Hessel, "Lessons of Life" – how to write a life story

Roxanne Munns reported that the website interface has been reorganized for easier access.

The following represents refreshment signups for 2005:

• January –Anita Doering
• February – Allen Nelson
• March – The Kruegers/The Ericksons
• April – Karen Kesselring/Jane Radloff
• May – Anita Palmquist

• Dues for 2005 should be paid by the end of January.
• The Nominating Committee (Karen Kesselring and Roxanne Munns) will report at our January meeting.

Jane Radloff moved to approve $58 in contributions to the Archives. The contribution will purchase Heritage Quest ($23) and "Ohio: The Cross Road of One Nation" ($35)

• Ethnic Treat Night; Don Melby spoke on his research breakthrough in Norway.

The business portion of the meeting adjourned by general consent at 7:25pm.
