La Crosse Area Genealogical Society

January 22, 2002

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2002, by President Anita Palmquist.

Secretary Greg Filbeck read the minutes. The minutes were approved as read. Greg announced that he had received a high response rate for the surname project.

Treasurer Allen Nelson read the treasurer’s report. The beginning balance on hand as of November 27, 2001 was $1,580.36 with receipts of $661.49 and disbursements of $585.31, leaving a balance on hand as of January 22, 2002 of $1,656.54.

No report.

The January newsletter was mailed out in mid-January.

Earl Newton reported for Sue Paige indicating that the February Quarterly will be forthcoming.

Susan Douglas announced the programs for February through April.

• Bev McDowell, long time member of our Society, will present on February 26^th on the DAR with special emphasis on their goals and what is required to become a DAR member.
• The program is pending for March. A possible program on documentation is in the works.
• Winona speaker Bruce Ramsdell is scheduled to present at our April meeting.

Mason Witt moved to adopt the revised bylaws, as presented in the newsletter. The motion carried. .

Elections were held for the offices of President and Secretary. Anita Palmquist was re-elected to the office of President by acclamation. Greg Filbeck was re-elected to the office of Secretary by acclamation.

A roundtable discussion on solving your genealogical brick wall followed. .

Mary Ellen Ross and Linda Miles will coordinate food for February.

The business portion of the meeting adjourned at 7:40pm.
