Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 8:09 pm by President Terry Micks.

Officer Reports

The minutes of the 23 Nov 2010 meeting were read by Secretary Joyce Krueger and approved by those in attendance.

The Treasurer�s Report was read by Treasurer Al Nelson. The beginning balance on hand as of 23 Nov 2010 was $1,773.28 with receipts of $285.00 and disbursements of $201.90, leaving a balance on hand as of 22 Feb 2011 of $1,856.38. Report was approved.

Correspondence

• Gene-O-Rama is April 15 & 16 at the Raddison/La Crosse Center. If you have a $20 membership, you get $25 off your registration.
• April 30 will be the Milw. Co. Genealogical Society event.
• July 9 is the German Interest Group event at Whitewater.
• May 21 is the Wausau Family History Center event.
• In Minnesota there will be a British Isle Family History Days event.
• Jarrod Roll of the Monroe County Local History Room is looking for an expert for research in other countries.

Committee Reports

Archives

Anita Doering reported on the activity of the three genealogy magazines that LAGS contributes to the Archives. The 1940 census will online only, probably in April of 2012.

Quarterly

Terry reported that the queries in the quarterly are producing results. She would like more articles, etc. for the quarterly.

Program Ideas

• Publishing is a possible subject for the March program.
• Terry will talk on the 1940 census sometime in the future.
• Beginning genealogy.
• Website update.
• Land descriptions - lots of information available from these.

Unfinished Business

Terry has not heard anything yet from the State Genealogical Society about what part LAGS will play at Gene-O-Rama. She will try to find out. We would like to have a booth and be able to sell Cemetery Clean-Up Kits. We could put them together at the March meeting.

New Business

• The Nominations Committee brought nominations for Anita Doering for V.P., and Al Nelson for Treasurer to the meeting. They were both elected for another term of office.
• Dues are due: $25 per family, or $20 for an individual.
• We need to find somewhere else to have the Oct 2011 meeting.

Program

Peggy Derrick, Curator for the La Crosse County Historical Society, presented the program on �The Use of Quilts in Genealogy Research.� Peggy brought a �hands-off� heirloom signature quilt to display. Thank you, Peggy, for a most interesting program!

Adjournment

Treats were provided by Karen in between the program and the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
