February 24, 2009

Call to Order
The business meeting was called to order at 8:23 pm on February 24, 2009, by President Terry Micks after the program.

Officer Reports
Secretary Joyce Krueger read the minutes of the November 25, 2008 meeting. A motion was made and seconded to accept the Secretary�s report. The motion was approved.
Treasurer Allen Nelson read the Treasurer�s Report. The beginning balance on hand as of November 25, 2008 was $1,404.37 with receipts of $340.00 and disbursements of $315.00, leaving a balance on hand as of February 24, 2009 of $1,429.37. The Treasurer�s Report was approved.

Correspondence
A thank you letter from Irish Fest, where they had almost 200 in attendance.
The German Interest group will be meeting on July 11, 2009 in Whitewater, WI.
The Milwaukee County Workshop will be held on April 18, 2009.
Tre Lag Stevne is scheduled for Aug. 5-8 in St. Paul, MN.
La Crosse�s North Side Library is having fundraising for lighting.
Someone in California is clipping obits for our area from the LA Times and the Orange County Messenger. Watch for these in the quarterly.

Committee Reports

Archives
There will be an article on some new mapping projects in the next newsletter.
Usage of LDS reels has picked up, but because of shipping time the reels are only available for use for two weeks. Donations seem to be going okay so far.

Quarterly
Terry Micks apologized because she was unable to work on the quarterly for six weeks because of a shoulder injury. She�s hoping to get it to the printer this week, and include articles on the Documentation Program and Research.

Programs
The March 2009 meeting will be on Websites and will be presented by Terry Micks. Please email Terry your favorite genealogy websites, and please remember to put �LAGS� in the subject line.
The April 2009 meeting is undecided at this point.
Terry suggested that LAGS make a commitment to do more cemetery work � maybe for June 2009. This will be discussed at the next meeting.
Susan wishes to see a committee of more than one person handle the programs in the future.

Website
There are no updates to report.
Roxanne welcomes any tombstone pictures submitted to her. This is becoming a very popular part of the website.

Unfinished Business
The Beginners Brochure Committee is having trouble setting dates for meetings.
Jonna is done with her chemo treatments and will soon start radiation. You can follow her progress on her blog.
LAGS donation for the cost of LDS reels is on hold.

New Business
Dues are due for 2009 -- $20.
No one volunteered to bring treats for the March meeting.
Anita Doering was nominated for the office of Vice President, and Allen Nelson was nominated for the office of Treasurer. They were elected by a unanimous ballot.
Anita Doering will do publicity for the April program.

Program
Ed Hill presented an excellent program on Dating Old Photographs. He took us from the first images to the first Kodak Brownie cameras, with lots of information in between. Thank you Ed!

Adjournment
The business portion of the meeting adjourned at 8:55pm. Treats were served between the program and the business meeting. Thank you, Betsy!
