La Crosse Area Genealogical Society
April 24, 2001
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 24, 2001, by President Anita Palmquist. An introduction of guests followed.
Officer Reports
Secretary Greg Filbeck read the minutes. The minutes were approved as read. A membership list was passed around to allow members to add their phone number and email address to our database. The secretary read correspondence concerning upcoming programs. Roxanne Munns was acknowledged for her work in creating the society website (sites.rootsweb.com/~wilacgs).
Treasurer Allen Nelson read the treasurer�s report. The beginning balance on hand as of March 27, 2001 was $3,030.58 with receipts of $408.33 and disbursements of $205.61, leaving a balance on hand as of April 24, 2001 of $3,233.30. A total of $589.00 of the ending balance was donations for the 1930 census project. The treasurer�s report was filed. Discussion followed on the appropriate donation from the Society to the Archives for the 1930 census project. Greg Filbeck moved to donate $1,000 to the Archives to support the purchase of the 1930 census. The motion was seconded and carried. Jane Radloff moved to allow the Executive Board to make decisions regarding additional donations to support obtaining the 1930 census once final funding figures are available this summer. The motion was seconded and carried.

Anita Doering reported the following:
Newsletter
Earl Newton announced that the deadline for the next Newsletter would be at the end of August with distribution during the first part of September.
Quarterly
Sue Paige announced the deadline for the next Quarterly will be July 16.
May meeting
Carol Henderson reported that four societies (including ours) are co-sponsor a seminar featuring speakers from the Ulster Historical Foundation on the topic of Scot-Irish research on May 24th from 6:30 until 10:00 at WWTC. There will be no cost for the seminar. Flyers will be distributed during the upcoming week. Members may find out more information about the Foundation at www.ancestryireland.com. As passed during the March meeting, this presentation will be in lieu of our regular monthly meeting.
Gene-a-rama
Jane Radloff, President of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Council, announced that the WGC is seeking board members. Anyone interested should contact her. Gen-a-rama will be held June 15-16 at the Omnicenter in Onalaska. Volunteers sheets were distributed for assistance in the following areas: (1) to take meal tickets, (2) to work the registration table between 8 and 6:15 on Friday and 8:30 and 11:30 on Saturday, (3) to input/index surnames into database � deadline from submissions is April 18 with work required to be completed by the first of June, (4) to assist in the solicitation of door prizes, (5) to hand out door prizes, (6) to assist vendors is setting up and taking down exhibits � Friday morning until 8:30am and Saturday afternoon between 3:30 and 4:30.
Programs
Susan Douglas announced that three tentative topics are under consideration for the fall: documentation, deeds, and civil war correspondence.

The business portion of the meeting adjourned at 7:42pm.
