Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 8:20 pm on 4/27/10, by President Terry Micks.

Officer Reports

Secretary Joyce Krueger read the minutes of the 3/23/10 meeting. A motion was made to accept the Secretary�s report as read. The motion was approved.

Treasurer�s Report. The beginning balance on hand as of March 23 was $1,713.48 with receipts of $282.85 and disbursements of $28.00, leaving a balance on hand as of April 27 of $1,968.33.

Correspondence

We received a formal invitation from Irish Fest to volunteerm again for their genealogy tent. All volunteers will have free entry. Their website is updated, and they are very happy with the LAGS volunteers in the past events.

Committee Reports

Archives

• Anita brought free periodicals that the Archives is removing from the shelves.
• There will be a Shred Fest on April 30. Anyone can bring paper to be shredded, and there will be a collection of non-perishable food items.
• May 1^st will be a garage sale and a book sale at the Library.
• May 10^th is National History Day
• Watch for the upcoming 1930 Census release on the National Archive website.

Quarterly

• Those who have not paid their dues will not get the May Quarterly.
• The May Quarterly is now in progress.

Programs

• On May 25^th Paul Beck from the Area Research Center and Teri Talpe from UW-La Crosse will be talking on �Preserving old photographs, slides and negatives, and the Historic Steamboat Photograph Collection Digitization Project.�
• In June, instead of our usual meeting we will have 3 days of work at Oak Grove Cemetery. If you have a digital camera, please bring it to photograph.
       Tuesday, June 1, 3-7 Transcribing, cleaning and photographing sections of Oak Grove Cemetery.
       Saturday, June 5, 9-noon Continue transcribing, cleaning and photographing at Oak Grove Cemetery (rain date Sunday June 6)
       Tuesday, June 15, 3-7 Continue transcribing, cleaning and photographing at Oak Grove Cemetery

Susan will provide treats for the May 25^th meeting.

Program

Terry Micks gave the program on �The Census and Your Ancestors: Did Someone Come Knocking on Their Door?� It was a very thorough look at the progression of the censuses and how our ancestors may have perceived them. Thank you, Terry!

Adjournment

The business portion of the meeting adjourned at 8:38 pm. Connie and Joyce provided treats for all. Thank you.
