Committee Reports

Archives

Anita Doering announced free materials in the back of the room. Also on Mon., May 12 the Library will be celebrating National History Day, and from 6:30 to 8:30 that evening there will be an advance showing of the film Hometown Stories of La Crosse. The films producers and others involved with the film will be there. The Washburn Award will be presented that night. There will be displays all month.

Quarterly

Terry Micks reported that the quarterly is coming together nicely, and that there will be at least 28 pages this time. There is still room available yet if anyone has something to submit. This issue will be out sometime in May.

Programs

Tues. May 27, 2008 from 4-8 pm we will meet in Oak Grove Cemetery for a work evening. Please meet in the parking lot by the office at 4 pm and we will wrap up by 8 pm, but come when you can and leave when you must. Activities will include taking digital photographs, verify information from the stones, and cleaning stones. Bring your own supper. Remember that West Avenue is under construction. More information will be posted on the website.

June 24: Possibly a program on documenting your genealogical sources.

We need suggestions for new programs. Susan would like someone else to take over setting up programs. She has lots of past presentations written down.

Website

Roxanne reported that she will have a map for the May meeting on the LAGS website.

Unfinished Business

New Business

Three members attended the Gene-O-Rama in Eau Claire. They reported that it was a very good event.

Program

Susan Hessel presented a very interesting program about her business, Lessons From Life, in which she puts together personal history books. She is an interviewer at heart, and really loves doing these books. She has also written a book titled, Getting the Conversation Going, which is a great book for gleaning out information from those reluctant relatives.

Adjournment

The business portion of the meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm and Denis Kuenen provided treats.

Respectfully submitted,

Joyce Krueger
Secretary
