Terry Micks gave a presentation on Family Tree Maker Options.

 

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:23 p.m. by President, Terry Micks.

 

Officer Reports

November minutes were dispensed with as it was an informal meeting.

 

The Treasurer’s Report was read by Denis Kuennen, who reported a current balance of $1859.25.  Motion made and seconded to approve the report.  All in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Correspondence – We received a thank you from the Public Library Archives for the magazine subscriptions.  Dunn County is holding a spring workshop on April 16.

 

Committee Reports

Archives – Anita reported that there will be April computer genealogy website classes held at the library.

Quarterly – The Quarterly is going to the printer this week.

Programs – Future programs are undecided and are looking for ideas. 

Website – no report.

 

Old Business – Check the label on the Quarterly, it lists when you last paid dues.  Please pay at next meeting if you are past due.

Anita prepared a list of Extended Loan Microfilms that the library would like to have and includes: Naturalizations in Wisconsin, Registration of Birth in La Crosse County 1876-1907, Deeds – grantor/grantee La Crosse County 1851-1901, and School Records 1851-1867. The library also intends to purchase 3 new microfilm scanners at a cost of $7000-$8000. Motion by Karen Hoel, second by Sue Crothers to purchase the Birth and School microfilms. All in favor, motion carried.

 

Motion by Karen Hoel and second to donate $200 to the archives to go toward the purchase of the microfilm readers. Motion by Kathleen Ryan and seconded to amend the amount to $500. All in favor, motion carried to donate $500 toward the microfilm readers.

 

Motion and second to renew our membership in the Wisconsin Historical Society for $65.  All in favor, motion carried.  It was questioned why we are not members of the Wisconsin State Genealogy Society (WSGS). This will be looked into.

 

New Business

Elections for president and secretary will be held in March. Terry is finished as president, but will continue the Quarterly for now. Kathleen offered to continue as secretary unless someone else wants to take over. Miranda Alexander and Debbie Herbert volunteered to be the Nominating Committee and will search for a president and someone to take over programs.

 

Announcements – The Gene-A-Rama will take place in Wausau on April 7 and 8.

 

The next meeting will be March 22, 2016.
