The Treasurer’s Report was read by Denis Kuennen, who reported a balance of $2074.15 as of September 22.  Motion and seconded to approve the report.  All in favor.  Motion carried.

Correspondence – no correspondence.

Committee Reports

Archives – Anita reported that The Dark La Crosse Tour: The Radio Show would be playing at the Pump House on Oct. 30th and 31st and Nov. 6th & 7th. Tickets are going quickly and are selling at $12 each.  Call the Pump House to reserve tickets.  Megan Isely from the Archives staff has given a set of beginning genealogy classes for Ancestry and Heritage Quest and FamilySearch.  A LAG member was in attendance and voiced how much she liked the classes.

Quarterly – The Quarterlies are ready to mail out.  Send Wedding Bells material to Terry as she is out.

Programs – Everyone bring an ethnic treat to share for the November meeting and come prepared to talk about your ancestor’s unique profession or military experience.

Website – Roxanne now has a handle on the technology for the updating the website and this is her goal in 2016.

Old Business – Elections! We need a person to coordinate the Quarterly AND we need a committee of two people to coordinate programs. See Terry if you are interested. Right now Terry is doing it all.

New Business

A reminder was given that annual dues are in February.  Terry is going to check again if we can get an expiration date on the mailing label.  There was a mix up in expiration dates so Terry isn’t sure if she has the most current list or not.

Terry asked Anita to prepare another list of potential FamilySearch microfilms that LAGS might order for the Archives on permanent loan.

Announcements

Terry will be presenting three talks at the Black River Beach in February, March and April of 2016.  The topics are Family Tree Maker, Internet for Research, and Ancestry DNA.

Karen Hoel reported that the Masonic Temple does have records on their members but you have to look for something specific, like the date of death for a member but reaching them is difficult.  You might have to send them a letter.

Terry reminded members to follow LAGS on Facebook for current activities.

The next meeting will be November 24, 2015.

The business portion of the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Anita Taylor Doering, Vice President

La Crosse Area Genealogical Society
