Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:20 p.m. by President, Terry Micks.

 

Officer Reports

The minutes of the February 25, 2014 meeting were read.  Motion by Bessie, second by Denis to approve the minutes.  All in favor.  Motion carried.

 

The Treasurer’s Report was read by Nancy Hill who reported a balance of $2155.69 as of March 24. The report was approved. 

 

Correspondence

A letter was received from Irishfest stating that this year will be the 10th Anniversary and again will host a genealogy tent.  The fest will be held August 8, 9, and 10.  We will need volunteers to staff the tent on Saturday and Sunday.

 

There will be a genealogy conference held in Wausau on Saturday, April 26.  The conference is free, but preregistration is required and forms are available in the Archives Room.

 

Committee Reports

Archives – Anita reported that the spring Footsteps Program will begin May 13 on Tuesday evenings.  Les Crocker will be teaching a class on the Architecture of La Crosse beginning June 17 for 7 weeks.  It is time to begin cemetery work to photograph, clean and transcribe tombstones in the Oak Grove Cemetery.  Potential work dates are: Saturday morning, May 31; Monday, June 2, 3-6 p.m.; Tuesday, June 3 or June 10.  Check Facebook for final dates or last minute changes.

 

Quarterly – August and November issues are at the printer.  Terry is working on the February issue.  Please send any articles to Terry.

 

Programs - April: Preservation of Photographs; May: Expectations and Results of a Family History Tour; and in June cemetery work will take the place of a meeting.

 

Website – Roxanne has been getting all of the photos onto the Find a Grave site.  There are over 4000 photos posted by La Crosse Area Genealogy Society.

 

Unfinished Business

It is time to pay 2014 dues if not already paid.  Annual dues are $20 for individual and $25 for family.  Dues go toward purchases for the Archives Room and toward workshops.

 

New Business

 

Next meeting will be April 22.
