Cynthia Jacobson gave a presentation on “How to Write and Publish Family History in the 21st Century”. The door prize book, “Genealogy Writing in the 21st Century” was won by Kathleen Ryan.
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:17 p.m. by President Terry Micks.
Officer Reports
The minutes of the March 26, 2013 meeting were read by Kathleen Ryan and were approved by those in attendance.
The Treasurer’s Report was read by Nancy Hill. The beginning balance on hand as of March 26, 2013 was $2025.88. She reported that we have 180 members. The report was approved.
Correspondence
We received a thank you from the library for the $85 donation we made for renewal of periodicals. Flyers were received notifying of upcoming conferences.
Committee Reports
Archives – Anita was unable to attend but she will have cemetery work dates by the May meeting. Members were encouraged to check out the “find a grave” website. It can be searched by name or county and list pictures of tombstones. Photographs are taken by local people, then posted for others to see.
Quarterly – Terry reported that the November 2012 and February 2013 Quarterly magazines are at the printer. The main reason for delay is that Terry writes most of the articles. Other members are encouraged to write articles and send them to Terry.
Programs – Roxanne Munns will give a presentation at the May 28 meeting on “Gadgets to Help with Family History”. We are always looking for program ideas. Contact Terry if you have ideas.
Website – no report.
Unfinished Business
Annual dues are due, $20 for individual and $25 for family.
New Business
A new person is needed to handle publicity for the group. The time commitment would be 2-3 hours per month to email program information out and put meeting information in the Tribune.
Bessie volunteered to bring treats for the April 23 meeting.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathleen Ryan
