Albert Schnuckel

With the farming interests of Kenosha County, Albert Schnuckel has long been identified, and he now owns and operates a well-improved place in Pleasant Prairie Township. Like many of our best citizens his early home was across the seas for he was born in Prussia, Germany, on the 18th of February, 1848, and is a son of Frederick and Caroline Schnuckel. In his native land he attended the common schools until fourteen years of age, and then assisted his father in the operation of the home farm until he attained his majority. Bidding goodby to friends and native land, Mr. Schnuckel boarded the steamship "Vizor" and after a pleasant voyage of nine days landed in the United States in 1869. Coming west he took up his abode in Kenosha County and secured employment on a farm. He continued to work for others until 1875, when he purchased fifty acres of land, and has since bought another tract of seventy acres. To the improvement and cultivation of his farm he has since devoted his energies with most gratifying results and today has a well-improved and highly-cultivated place.
In 1875 Mr. Schnuckel was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Keene, a daughter of Mathias Keene. To this union have been born eight children: Margaret, William, Fred, Mary, Rose, Bennie, Frank, and Clara.
In religious faith the family are Catholics. The Republican party finds in Mr. Schnuckel a stanch supporter of its principles, but at local elections he votes for the man whom he believes best fitted for the office regardless of party ties. For six terms Albert Schnuckel has served as a member of the school board, and he has always been found true to any trust reposed in him. He is a self-made man, whose success in life is due entirely to his own unaided efforts and the prosperity that has come to him is certainly well merited.
