Fred Raiman, secretary of the Pfennig Grocery Company, was born in Russia, June 17, 1887, a son of Michael and Justina Raiman, who, leaving the land of the czar, came to the new world, establishing their home in St. Joseph, Michigan, in 1892 after having previously resided for a time in Indiana and in North Dakota. In the year 1901 they came to Kenosha, where they still make their home.
Fred Raiman attended the public schools of the new world in the various localities in which the family home was maintained, having been but five years of age at the time they crossed the Atlantic en route to the new world. He was a youth of fourteen when they came to Kenosha and in April, 1907, when a young man of twenty years, he entered the employ of the Pfennig Grocery Company. Gradually in this connection he has worked his way upward, giving proof of his ability and loyalty and after advancing through intermediate positions was made secretary of the company in 1915.
On the 7th of June, 1911, Mr. Raiman was married to Miss Helen E. Pfennig, a daughter of Charles Pfennig and a sister of Charles H. Pfennig, mentioned elsewhere in this work. They have become parents of one child, Virginia Barbara. Mr. Raiman attends the Lutheran church and in his political views is a republican. His life has been quietly passed, unmarked by any event of spectacular quality, but his persistency of purpose and unfaltering energy have enabled him to overcome obstacles and difficulties and steadily progress along the path of advancement to the goal of success.
