Miss Andrea Paulsen is a member of the Paulsen-Lindhardt Company, a name that figures prominently in commercial circles of Kenosha. She was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and is indebted to the public school system of that country for the educational privileges she enjoyed. She came to the United States in 1900 but did not tarry long on the eastern coast. She made her way at once to the interior of the country and soon afterward secured a situation in the Jacobson dry goods store at Racine. In that way she gained a practical knowledge of America�s commercial methods and later she was with Johnson Brothers of Chicago, occupying enviable positions as buyer for various departments. At a later date she went to the Pacific coast with the intention of remaining there but liking the middle west better she remained only a short time in California and then returned to Racine. The value of her services led to her appointment to the position of assistant manager with the Nelsen Dry Goods Company.
It was while in Racine that Miss Paulsen formed the acquaintance of Julius Lindhardt and combining their interests, they came to Kenosha and on the 1st of September, 1911, opened the Paulsen-Lindhardt dry goods house, which they have since successfully conducted, the efforts and ability of one ably seconding and supplementing the labors and enterprise of the other. Both have had long experience in the dry goods business, know what the trade demands and are ready to meet the wants of their customers in the large stock which they carry. They have, too, a five and ten cent store, which was established in 1915, and both enterprises are proving profitable concerns.
