The HMT Rohna Memorial Page - Howard E. Olson of Juneau Co. was killed while onboard this ship. The tragic loss of 1015 soldiers of more than 2000 aboard the Rohna marked the greatest loss of American military personnel at sea during wartime in our history. The HMT Rohna, was attacked from the air and destroyed in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Algeria. Two important but virtually unknown historical events occurred at that time.
