Edwin Lewis CADY of NY wed Elizabeth "Betsy" CUTLAND of England on Nov. 25, 1855 in Mausten (then Adams Co., I believe). The bride was 16 and was the daughter of Philip and Susan Cutland of Swimbridge, Devon, Eng. Sure wish someone could help me find out who Edwins parents were. The couple had their first child, Milton, in Jan. 1860 and in Feb. of 1862 he went off with the 10th Battery, Wisconsin Light Artillery.  If someone could look in the 1860 census there may be some answers. Three CADY'S from the community of Fountain all joined the same unit in  the Civil War. One was Edwin and I believe the others were relatives.  The census was a year before they joined and may tell me who was living  with whom.

SCHULTZ: ggrandfather Christian Schultz is on 1860 & 1870 census Germantown, Juneau Co. My ggrandmother is on 1870 census as Dorinda.  In the sketch of Christian Schultz in Adams Co. biography compendium (see Adams Co. webpage) ggrandmother's name is listed as Dorothy CHAIRMAN.  Elsewhere, I have seen it as SCHIRMER or SCHIERMER or SCHIC/I??.  Census says she was born in Hesse - as was Christian.  I know this to be correct.  I do not call myself a genealogist by any sense of the word.  I am at a loss to learn her true maiden name.  I would appreciate any suggestions anyone might have for me.  I plan to make a trip to the area as soon as I have a good idea of what to do when I get there!

WEBSTER:  grandfather Harry L. Webster b. 1882 grew up around Juneau/Adams Co.  His siblings were brothers Jud (career US Army-was he the Joseph Webster that died in WWI?-, his wife Carrie, who lived in Mauston for many years, sons Lyle and Keithley);  Paul (daughter Phyllis); Roy (was in US Army in Phillipines 1906); sisters Zoe and Nan.  Grandfather Harry married grandmother Nettie SCHULTZ.  (Nettie first married George KLIPPEL who was killed in the Spanish-American war).  My father Francis Irwin WEBSTER, b. 1906 Friendship, was named (supposedly) after his grandfather or Harry's grandfather?  In the census reports I have seen to date, I can't figure out which of the many WEBSTERS on the rolls were my grandparents WEBSTER??  I have more census rolls ordered--but thought I'd try a query?? Thank you.

Children of Bernard & Helen QUIRK include: John James (1864-1891); William Bernard (1872-?); Sarah Jane (1876-1912); Brigette (1876-1878); Thomas Joseph (1879-?); & Henry Arthur (1881- ?). Hezekiah PECK Jr. (1820-1856) had moved to WI from NY by the 1850 census, which listed him living with his family and his parents in Dodge County. His family (spouse Lucinda Ellis Peck & children Smith, Mary Ann, Oscar A., & Cordelia PECK) were living around Mauston in 1851 when Cordelia died. Although it is known that his family was still in NY in 1847, family history notes indicate Hezekiah came to Lyndon [Station], Juneau County, between 1842-1844. I am looking for any information that confirms Hezekiah PECK was in Juneau Co. before 1850.
