The 10th Regt. Wis. Vol. Infantry was ordered into Camp Holton, Milwaukee, the last of
Sept. 1861, and was mustered into the U. S. Service Oct. 5th and 8th. The companies
composing the Regiment were as follows:

Co. C. - Menasha Guards from Menasha and Neenah
Co. D. - Fremont Rifles from Horican and Portage
Co. E. - Sturdy Oaks from Hartford and Juneau.
Co. F. - Grand Co. Patriots from Lancaster
Co. G. - Jackson Co. Rifles from Black River Falls
Co. H. - Juneau County Rifles from New Lisbon
Co. I. - Grand Co. Sixth, from Platteville.
Co. K - Waupun Rifles from Waupun

The names of those who enlisted from New Lisbon in Co. H, are as follows: Duncan McKercher, Capt. Maj., and in command of Regt., after battle of Chicamauga; died in Peabody, Kansas. Ingersoll George, 1st Lieutenant; resigned, Feb. 25, 1863; died last year. Philip Corey, 1st Sergt; died March 17, 1863, at New Albany, Ind. W. P. Mitchell, Sergt,; killed at Perryville, Ky., Oct 8, 1862. Milo McWhorter, promoted to Commissary Sergt., Nov. 8, 1862. O. B. Chester, Corporal & Sergt.; wounded and captured at Chicamauga, Ga., Sept. 19, 1863; mustered out May 4, 1865. Daniel F. Cleveland, Corporal; prisoner, discharged Nov. 17, 1862. William H. Cleveland, Corporal; mustered out Nov. 3, 1864. Ebenezer Chapman, Sergt.; prisoner at Chicamauga; discharged Sept. 20, 1863. James D. Heath, Corporal; transferred to Marine Brigade Jan. 31, 1863. Thomas Sanford, Corporal: wounded at Chicamauga; mustered out Nov. 3, 1864. Thomas A. Nelson, musician; prisoner Aug. 14, 1864; think he died at Soldiers Home, Milwaukee. Charles F. Adams, enlisted Aug. 10, 1862, prisoner at Chicamauga; transferred to 21st Wis., Nov. 4, 1864. Peter Addison, enlisted Sept. 16, 1861; captured at Chicamauga; died in prison at Danville, Va., Jan. 21, 1864. Samuel Allen, enlisted Oct. 21, 1861; discharged Oct. 20, 1862. Thomas Anderson, enlisted Sept. 16, 1861; wounded at Perryville and at Chicamauga; mustered out Nov. 3, 1864. Isaiah L. Austin, enlisted Aug. 15, 1861; discharged May 21, 1862. Robert M. Bailey, enlisted Sept. 13, 1861; supposed to have been killed at Chicamauga. Joseph B. Bonham, enlisted Sept. 24, 1861; died at Chattanooga, Tenn., Oct. 19, 1864. John Boyle, enlisted Oct. 27, 1861; discharged Jan. 1, 1863. Solden P. Buzzell, enlisted Aug. 29, 1861; discharges Feb. 5, 1863. Ora Carpenter, enlisted Sept. 7, 1861; discharged Feb. 6, 1863 on account of disability. He is one of the four who are all that are living here now who went from New Lisbon in Co. H 10th Wis. Infantry. He has been largely identified with the business interest of the city, in business, and in the erecting of business and residence buildings. He is a member of W. P.
