First Settler: Abijah Ayers, 1844
First Town Chairman:  J. P. Moulton  
Origin of Name: Named for the many springs that bubble out of the hilly terrain here; or for Waukesha, "The Fountain City" from which many settlers came.
First Church: Fountain Evangelical in 1878
First School: The Old Red School
First Recorded Town Tax:  $565.29 in 1865
