NOTABLE SOCIAL EVENT
Mr. and Mrs. Ora Carpenter Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary

Fifty years ago last Friday, Ora Carpenter, young, hopeful, ambitious, entered into a solemn contract with the best woman in the world by marrying her.  That he has proved a good husband and she a good wife is attested by the social postion that they hold, and by the happy celebration made for them by relatives and the friends of their youth on the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding day.  Over thirty people met that day and what a reunion it was.  A happier company could not be found. A sumptuous banquet was spread at noon and after the feast the balance of the day was spent by the guests and their hosts in sacred intercourse of a varied character.

The home was prettily decorated for the occasion, jonquils, daffodils and yellow roses with their golden blossoms, being typical of the event.

Mr.and Mrs. Carpenter received many congratulatory letters and cards during the day.  They were also the recipients of a number of handsome gifts which not only have a mint value but a value enhansed by tender sentiment and a precious memory.

Mr.and Mrs. Carpenter have been residents of New Lisbon for upwards of fifty years, the former coming here in the year 1855.

It is a pleasure for the TIMES-ARGUS to extend congratulations to these early and respected citizens of our city at this time and wish for them many more years of longevity in our midst.

The following guests were present on their anniversary day: Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Carpenter and little son of Schoolcraft, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. Will Peck of LaCrosse; Prof. and Mrs. W. E. Elmer of Hartford; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Moses of Warrens, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weller of Mitchell, S.D.; Mrs. Sarah Allen of Richmond, Ill.; A. M.
