J. M. Buintual (Brintnall), of Plymouth, was indicted for obtaining
money from the State by false pretenses. The accused has a son in the
army, and has drawn the sum of one hundred and ten dollars from the State
Treasurey, from the "aid to volunteer" fund, under the pretense that he was
poor and depended upon his enlisted son for support; when in fact, as is
charged, he was well of, had plenty of property and is not dependant upon
his son or anybody else. The matter was settled and a nolle
prosequi entered by the defendant repaying the money he had received.
