Descendants of John Brenneman

Descendants of John Brenneman

Generation No. 1

1. JOHN2 BRENNEMAN (JOHN1) was born Abt. January 09, 1840 in Lancaster Co.?, PA., and died April 06, 1903 in Mauston, Wisconsin. He married JANE PRICE February 12, 1866 in Kingston, Wi., daughter of WILLIAM PRICE and MARGARET. She was born September 24, 1846 in Illinois, and died October 02, 1926 in Juneau Co., Wi.

Notes for JOHN BRENNEMAN:

It should be noted that as is typical, John's birth date is listed as 1838 on some records but is inscribed as 1840 on tombstone--take your choices for what it is worth.

He entered the Union Army during the Civil War in Toledo, Oh., he may have lived in Fairfield Co., Ohio...but he may have left another county such as Cuyahoga to join the Army. John served as a private in company "C" Ohio 130th Regiment from December 28, 186? to 1865? (can't read record). He may have served only from May 2, 1864--September 22, 1864 but likely served more than one 100 day enlistment.

In 1870 his brother Henry and Henry's wife Caroline (Carrie) are living with he and his wife Jane Price. On his death record says John's mother was Jane of Marshall, Pennsylvania. This may or may not be correct--I think Lancaster Co. not Marshall, Pa.

Listed as a mason on marriage certificate. He and Jane were married via a civil ceremony in Kingston, Wi.

He and wife Jane Price are buried in present day Oakwood Cemetery, Mauston but I did not find their graves on May 19, 2002. This cemetery was called the Mauston Cemetery during at least 1903.

They are buried in Section 2, Block 56, Row 7. 3 people named Peckham are buried in the same block 56. This info from Juneau Co. internet site from Cemetery Books.

Notes for JANE PRICE:

From Illinois. She is buried by her husband in present day Oakwood Cemetery, Mauston. She probably was living with her son William at her death as was her husband but I do not know for sure.

Children of JOHN BRENNEMAN and JANE PRICE are:

2. i. WILLIAM P.3 BRENEMAN, b. April 04, 1869, Juneau Co., Wi.; d. January 22, 1946, Juneau Co., Wi.

ii. ALBERT BRENEMAN, b. February 1882, Wisconsin; d. 1956, Juneau Co., Wi; m. MAZIE UNKNOWN; b. 1893, Wi; d. 1969, Juneau Co., Wi.

Notes for ALBERT BRENEMAN:

The Grave location of Albert and wife Mazie is on the west side of a town road that splits the cemetery, and then in the north eastern quadrant near the curve in a cemetery road.

Albert spelled his name Breneman not Brenneman and the gravestone is so-marked.

Oakwood is the name of this cemetery. From Albert's father John's obituary this cemetery was then referred to as Mauston Cemetery in 1903.

2. WILLIAM P.3 BRENEMAN (JOHN2 BRENNEMAN, JOHN1) was born April 04, 1869 in Juneau Co., Wi., and died January 22, 1946 in Juneau Co., Wi. He married WIFE-UNKNOWN.

Buried in same block in Oakwood Cemetery, Mauston as are his parents.

Burial: January 1946, Oakwood Cemetery Mauston, Juneau Co., Wi

Notes for WIFE-UNKNOWN:

Probably buried in Oakwood Cemetery by her husband but not known. There is a Carline Jane Breneman--April 1, 1885 to August 1, 1902--buried in the block 56. She was a 17 yearold daughter of probably John and wife Jane Price, it would seem from the ages of the known family members but do not know this for sure, June 1, 2002.

Child of WILLIAM BRENEMAN and WIFE-UNKNOWN is:

i. JENEVIEVE4 BRENNEMAN, b. August 22, 1902, Mauston, Wi; d. April 24, 1903, Mauston, Wi.

Notes for JENEVIEVE BRENNEMAN:

Called the Mauston Cemetery at the time but it is the Oakwood cemetery of present day Mauston---Spring 2002. Logically, she may be buried in the Breneman burial plot and perhaps without a grave stone, this is speculation.
